Andrew McFarlane, Trustee & Facilitator

Andrew has been delivering equine-facilitated learning (EFL) programmes since 2002, when he launched LeadChange to provide ‘Courses with Horses’ for business executives, managers and leadership teams. In 2012 he was approached to run EFL workshops for teenagers at risk of becoming NEETs (not in education, employment or training). His vision to offer these life-changing programmes to young people and adults in need throughout the UK led to the formation of HorseHeard as a Social Enterprise in 2013 with Andrew as one of the founding directors. He chaired HorseHeard from its registration as a charity in 2016, until 2021.

Andrew is passionate about the benefits of experiential learning with horses, having observed so many people experience life-changing insights on EFL programmes. His approach to EFL is informed by the knowledge that powerful transformations happen when we hold space for humans to interact with horses.
