Since early 2013 HorseHeard have been working with Adviza and Wikima in the Thames Valley as part of the innovative Energise programme, working with young people deemed at risk of becoming NEET. Initial findings have now been published in the trade press (Children and Young People Now magazine).
The early findings are extremely positive – the equine facilitated interventions specifically cited as promoting positive behavioural change, “taking non-confrontational style … from the stable back to the class room.”
More broadly the findings for the programme: “Initial outcomes data collated by Adviza shows the programme is helping achieve sustained improvements in young participants’ behaviour, attitude and school attendance. A total of 102 young people were surveyed from May 2013 to May 2014. Ninety-six per cent of respondents were positive about the project overall, while 95 per cent said it was useful to their development.”
